INTRODUCTION
In this episode we will delve into the importance of how we spend this invaluable resource—time. Understanding time through the lens of stewardship not only helps us prioritize our daily activities but also enriches our spiritual journeys.
BIG IDEA: What you spend your time doing determines what you will be good at.
TWO TYPES OF TIME
There are two greek words for time found in the New Testament.
CHRONOS TIME is one of two greek words for time. It refers to the way we measure our seconds, minutes, hours, and days. It’s where we get our word chronological.
KAIROS TIME is the “moment” time. It’s often used to describe a time period and what was experienced during that time period. We talk about kairos time when we say, “do you remember that time…”
The person who can wisely order their CHRONOS time will put themselves in a position for to experience God in KAIROS time.
AN APPROACH TO INVESTING YOUR TIME WISELY
1. NUMBER your days
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. - Psalm 90:12
Let’s consider the typical month:
Order your day into 1/3 (Morning, Afternoon, Evening) - 90 blocks a month
Order your day into hours - 480 hours in a month
Order your day into 15 minute blocks - 1,920 15 minute blocks in a month
2. LISTEN and ACCEPT instruction for future days
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.Assess the instruction you need - Proverbs 19:20
Ask: “What do I already know about this situation?”
Ask: “What do I need to know to get started?”
Accept the instruction you have received
Ask: “When am I going to start?”
Ask: “When am I going to finish?”
3. WALK with wisdom
Look carefully (or accurately) then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. - Ephesians 5:15-16
Live by a calendar that allows you to see the things that are being accomplished.
Spend your time on purpose (look carefully how you walk)
CONCLUSION
By applying these principles, we can enhance our stewardship of time and align our actions with our goals, ultimately leading to more meaningful moments in Kairos time.
