INTRODUCTION
What does biblical stewardship look like? In Matthew 25:14-30, Milo and Olivia explore the mandate to be stewards of what God has entrusted to our care, as well as some obstacles that may get in the way.
Four Reasons people practice poor stewardship
A focus on short term gains and losses
Negligent behavior because of a lack of awareness
Cultural norms that give permission for excuses
Fear of loss overtakes living with purpose
INITIAL STEPS TO A LIFE OF EFFECTIVE STEWARDSHIP
Commit to your ROLE as STEWARD (Matthew 25:14-15)
God entrusts each person with time, talents, treasures, and testimony for His good purposes. Our job is to steward what God has entrusted to our care. In the parable, the master entrusts his servants with talents, each according to their ability. This reminds us that God gives us what we can handle, and our role is to steward it faithfully. Stewardship begins with recognizing that God is the owner of all our resources. My responsibility is to manage them for God’s Kingdom purposes.Develop a MAXIMIZE mentality (Matthew 25:16-18, 20-23)
Stewardship is demonstrated through active, responsible management. We are called to use our resources to their fullest potential for God’s Kingdom purposes. The two faithful servants worked diligently and multiplied their talents. Their actions exemplified faithfulness and initiative, as they didn’t hide or waste what was entrusted to them. Reflect on how you are using your time, skills, and resources. Are you being proactive in utilizing them wisely, or are they being buried out of fear or neglect?Give an ACCOUNTING for your ACTIONS (Matthew 25:19, 24-30)
We will be held accountable for how we steward what God has given us. Faithfulness leads to greater responsibility and eternal rewards. When the master returns, he rewards the faithful servants but punishes the one who neglected his responsibility. Our stewardship is not only about what we do here on earth; it also has eternal implications. Live with a mindset of accountability, knowing that how we manage our resources today will be evaluated by God. Seek to honor Him with all that you’ve been entrusted, as it carries lasting significance.
